Dirección General de Cine anuncia la apertura de la XV edición del Concurso Público Fonprocine 2026
Santo Domingo. – The General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE) announced the official opening of the fifteenth edition of the Public Contest of the Fund for Cinematographic Promotion (Fonprocine), one of the main support tools for the Dominican audiovisual sector, aimed at promoting the creation, production and strengthening of national cinematography.
Since its creation, the Fonprocine Public Competition has established itself as an essential platform for the development of Dominican cinema, offering local filmmakers and producers the opportunity to present their projects and access resources that contribute to raising the quality, diversity and competitiveness of national productions.
For this fifteenth edition, the call will have a total fund of RD 17,500,000.00, which will directly benefit 16 film projects in different categories and lines of support.
As a great novelty this year, the contest officially incorporates the line of National Premieres in Alternative Spaces, an initiative aimed at promoting cultural democratization and expanding audiences' access to Dominican film productions throughout the national territory.
The 15th edition of the Fonprocine Public Competition also maintains the total automation of the application process, which allows applications to be presented 100% digitally through the official Fonprocine subportal. Likewise, applicants will have a video tutorial that will guide them step by step in creating profiles and uploading documents.
Among the available categories are Project Development, which will award six prizes of RD 750,000.00 each, for a total of RD 4,500,000.00; Short Film Production, with a prize of RD 600,000.00; Production of Animated Short Film, which will maintain the incentive of RD 1,000,000.00 for a winning project and Production of Fiction and/or Animated Feature Film, a category that will grant a fund of RD 7,000,000.00 for the making of a cinematographic work.
The call also reaffirms its commitment to the internationalization of Dominican cinema through the line of support for Minority Co-production, endowed with RD 3,500,000.00 to support strategic alliances and projects developed together with countries that maintain co-production agreements with the Dominican Republic.
In the field of documentary film, the line of support for Documentary Postproduction is maintained, thanks to the strategic alliance with Pulpo Post. The selected project will receive the use of the company's professional studios or the completion of its post-production process, according to the specific technical needs of the work.
The contest continues to strengthen short films as a fundamental space for the training and emergence of new talents, supporting both the production of fiction and animated short films.
The visual campaign of this edition highlights local artistic talent through the official illustration made by Dominican artist Angélica Pérez, whose graphic proposal will accompany the identity of the contest throughout the call.

En el ámbito del cine documental, se mantiene la línea de apoyo a laPosproducción de Documental, gracias a la alianza estratégica conPulpo Post. El proyecto seleccionado recibirá el uso de los estudios profesionales de la empresa o la realización de su proceso de posproducción, de acuerdo con las necesidades técnicas específicas de la obra. El concurso continúa fortaleciendo elcortometrajecomo espacio fundamental para la formación y elsurgimiento de nuevos talentos, respaldando tanto la producción de cortometrajes de ficción como de animación. La campaña visual de esta edición destaca eltalento artístico local a través de la ilustración oficialrealizada por la artista dominicanaAngélica Pérez, cuya propuesta gráfica acompañará la identidad del concurso durante toda la convocatoria.
