VP Pillay Leads Laying of Foundation Stone for Ile Perseverance Police Station

The foundation stone for a new, modern police station serving Ile Perseverance and Anse Etoile districts was laid this afternoon in Ile Perseverance in a ceremony officiated by Vice-President Mr Sebastien Pillay alongside senior government and law enforcement officials.

Vice-President Pillay was joined by Minister for Internal Affairs, Mr James Camille, Commissioner of Police Mr Godfra Hermitte, and Member of the National Assembly for the district Hon. Kenneth Athanase, as well as the district administrator. The Vice-President and the Commissioner of Police also unveiled a commemorative plaque, joined by Minister Camille and Hon. Athanase.

The ceremony was attended by high-level government and police officials, as well as members of the community.

The new station will be among the most comprehensively equipped in the country, featuring detention cells, officers' dormitories, an investigative section, a dedicated traffic unit, and a child-friendly interview facility with appropriate amenities for young persons.

According to the Project Officer at the Seychelles Infrastructure Agency (SIA), Mr Egbert Vidot, the project is estimated to cost approximately SCR 21 million, to be fully financed by the Government of Seychelles. Works are scheduled to commence this week, with completion expected within 52 weeks.

The new station will serve Ile Perseverance one of the largest districts in the country, as well as the neighbouring Anse Etoile district.
