República Dominicana fortalece su posición en el BCIE al convertirse en accionista clase A
Oviedo, Spain.-The Assembly of Governors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), approved by resolution the incorporation of the Dominican Republic to the list of “Series A” shareholders, with which the country becomes part of the 51% shareholding along with the founding countries of that institution.
This important decision occurred during the LXVI Ordinary Meeting of the CABEI Board of Governors, held in the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain, in which the Minister of Finance and Economy (MHE), Magín Díaz, participated in his capacity as titular governor of this bank.
Greater possibility of investment to promote the development of the DR
The decision increases CABEI's authorized capital, from USD 7,000 million to USD 10,000 million, to continue strengthening the bank's robust financial profile and expand its credit capacity to support strategic public investment and infrastructure projects that contribute to the economic and social development of member countries.
The meeting, held last Friday, June 26, brought together ministers of Economy and Finance and high authorities responsible for the economic policies of the member countries.
In this context, the minister held bilateral meetings with CABEI authorities and representatives of other countries, aimed at strengthening financial cooperation and promoting strategic projects for the Dominican Republic.
The opening ceremony of the Assembly included interventions by the executive president of CABEI, Gisela Sánchez; of the president of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón; as well as the first vice president of the Government of Spain, minister of Economy, Commerce and Business and titular governor for Spain before the CABEI, Carlos Cuerpo.
