Daraa, June 29 (SANA)Syrian Civil Defense teams are assisting families displaced from the village of Abidin in westernDaraacountryside after Israeli occupation forces shelled the area with artillery and opened fire from military helicopters, an emergency official said on Sunday.

Ahmed al-Hajer, operations commander for theCivil Defensein southernSyria, told SANA thatIsraeli forcestargeted the village and its surrounding areas with artillery fire and helicopter-mounted machine guns.

He said the attacks caused no casualties or material damage but triggered panic among residents, prompting a limited number of families to flee to nearby towns.

Al-Hajer said Civil Defense teams are assisting displaced families, providing emergency aid and helping relocate them to neighboring communities while Israeli drones continue to operate over the area.

The escalation comes amid continuing Israeli military attacks and violations in southern Syria. In recent days, Israeli forces have carried out repeated incursions into villages in the Daraa andQuneitracountrysides, established military checkpoints, searched civilians, and opened fire and shelled populated areas, in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and international law.
