Jordan condemns Israeli aggression on Syria as flagrant violation of sovereignty

Amman, June 29 (SANA)Jordanon Monday condemned continuedIsraeli aggressionagainst Syrian territory, including the latest incursions into the southern provinces ofQuneitraandDaraaand accompanying artillery shelling, describing them as a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law.

In a statement, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called for an immediate end to Israel’s repeated attacks and actions targeting Syria’s security and stability. The ministry said the attacks violate the U.N. Charter, Israel’s obligations underthe 1974 Disengagement Agreementand risk further escalating regional tensions.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fuad al-Majali reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria’s reconstruction in a manner that preserves the country’s unity, sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity and the rights of all Syrians.

He also called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by ensuringIsraelstops its unlawful provocative aggression on Syria, ends its occupation of Syrian territory, and complies with international law, relevant international resolutions and the principle of respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

On Sunday, Israeli occupation forces targeted the village ofAbidinin Daraa countryside and its surrounding areas with artillery fire and helicopter-mounted machine guns. The attacks caused no casualties or material damage but triggered panic among residents, prompting a limited number of families to flee to nearby towns.
