GCC secretary-general condemns Israeli aggression in southern Syria

Riyadh, June 29 (SANA)Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-GeneralJasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi on Monday condemned Israeli military incursions into Syrian territory and artillery shelling targeting the southern provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, describing the actions as a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and international law.

In a statement, AlBudaiwi said the attacks breached theU.N. Charterand called for respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He warned that continued Israeli aggression risks further escalating regional tensions, undermining stability and jeopardizing regional and international efforts to promote peace.

AlBudaiwi stressed the importance of complying with international law andinternational humanitarian lawto help preserve security and stability in the region.

He also reaffirmed the GCC’s solidarity with Syria and its support for the country’s security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity, rejecting any actions that violate its sovereignty or threaten its security.

On Sunday,Israeli occupation forcestargeted the village of Abidin in Daraa countryside and its surrounding areas with artillery fire and helicopter-mounted machine guns. The attacks caused no casualties or material damage but triggered panic among residents, prompting a limited number of families to flee to nearby towns.
