Presidente Abinader entrega remozado el Club Deportivo El Millón Yireh
Santo Domingo.–President Luis Abinader handed over this Sunday the renovated El Millón Yireh Sports Club, a work that revitalizes one of the main spaces dedicated to sports, recreation and social integration in the National District, directly benefiting 1,483 children, adolescents and young people.
The intervention, carried out by the Provincial Development Directorate, was carried out in just six months, responding to a historic demand from the community, which for years requested the rehabilitation of these facilities so that children, young people and residents could carry out training, tournaments and recreational activities in a safe and appropriate environment.
During the event, the president of the Presidential Commission to Support Provincial Development, Ángel de la Cruz, highlighted that the delivery of the roof of the El Millón Club is part of the transformation promoted by President Luis Abinader to strengthen sports and provide safe spaces for youth.
He pointed out that the current administration is developing the largest investment in sports infrastructure in the country, with hundreds of facilities built and remodeled, convinced that sport is one of the most effective tools to promote inclusion, development and opportunities for children and young people.
He maintained that the Government conceives sport as a fundamental tool to keep children and young people away from violence and create greater development opportunities, which is why it will continue to promote projects that benefit communities.
The official highlighted that, in addition to major infrastructure works, President Abinader's administration has prioritized the recovery of sports clubs and community centers, strengthening the national club movement and promoting appropriate scenarios for the training of new generations.
Quick response from President Luis Abinader
The executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (Inapa), Wellington Arnaud, highlighted that the remodeling of the El Millón Yireh Sports Club was possible thanks to the quick response of President Luis Abinader, who arranged the necessary resources after learning of the request presented by the community.
Arnaud also highlighted the president's commitment to strengthening sports, pointing out that the current administration is moving towards the construction, rehabilitation and remodeling of nearly 500 sports facilities throughout the country, aimed at providing decent spaces for the development of children, youth and communities.
Meanwhile, the president of the Dominican Federation of Clubs, Roberto Ramírez, described the inauguration of the roof of Club El Millón as a historic event and stated that it reflects the largest investment in sports infrastructure for clubs made by a Government.
He highlighted the support of President Luis Abinaderal for sports. Likewise, he congratulatedÁngel de la Cruz and Alberto Rodríguez for their contribution to national sports and urged the community to take care of the new facilities for the benefit of youth.
An important advance for the community
Onísimo Acosta, president of the El Millón Sports Club, thanked President Luis Abinader for supporting the construction of the roof and recognized the support of Ángel de la Cruz to make the work a reality, which he described as an important advance for the community.
Likewise, he highlighted the more than 50-year history of Club El Millón in the training of children and young people, and stated that the new facility will strengthen sports, recreation and community activities for the benefit of present and future generations.
The works included the remodeling of the outdoor area, the construction of a perimeter fence, the renovation of the stands and the installation of a wooden board on the field, significantly improving the conditions for sports practice. Likewise, the bathrooms, dressing rooms, warehouse, cafeteria and electrical room were intervened, in addition to the metal structure and its roof.
The work will directly benefit 1,483 people, including children, adolescents and young people, members of sports leagues and residents of nearby communities, as well as the hundreds of visitors who regularly participate in tournaments and activities organized at these facilities.
For years, the El Millón Yireh Sports Club has been an important meeting point for children, adolescents and young people in the sector, establishing itself as a reference for sports practice and healthy coexistence.
