Le Bénin lance les Olympiades Nationales d’Intelligence Artificielle pour sélectionner les talents qui représenteront le pays au Kazakhstan
150 young Beninese people are participating this June 27 in the first edition of the National Artificial Intelligence Olympiads (NOAI), an initiative led by the Government of Benin aimed at identifying, training and supporting the country's best talents with a view to their participation in the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiads (IOAI 2026), which will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from August 2 to 8, 2026.
Organized by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Innovation (MTDI), the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS), the Ministry of Secondary, Technical Education and Vocational Training (MESTFP) and the Sèmè City Development Agency (ADSC), these Olympiads constitute the main national system for identifying and preparing young Beninese talents in artificial intelligence.
Invest today in the talents who will build the digital economy of tomorrow
Artificial intelligence is already transforming economies, professions and education systems. Faced with these changes, Benin has made the development of advanced digital skills a national priority through the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and Big Data (SNIAM 2023-2027).
The National Artificial Intelligence Olympiads are part of this ambition: to identify, train and support the best young Beninese talents in order to prepare a new generation capable of contributing to the technological development of the country.
A national competition serving excellence
At the end of this first selection phase, 16 winners will be selected to continue the adventure. They will benefit from enhanced support including:
• the provision of specialized educational kits; • an intensive preparation program; • a bootcamp dedicated to technical skills, problem solving, scientific English and team work; • supervision provided by experts and mentors.
At the end of this journey, 8 young people will constitute the national team which will represent Benin at the 2026 International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad in Kazakhstan.
After a notable first participation, Benin confirms its ambition
Benin's first participation in the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad in 2025 demonstrated the exceptional potential of Beninese youth.
For its very first participation, the country ranked 30th out of 78 teams representing 62 nations. Benin is also among the only two African countries to have obtained an individual distinction thanks to the honorable mention awarded to Merveille AGBOSSAGA. These results confirmed the ability of young Beninese people to compete with the best international talents in a discipline considered strategic for the future of nations.
The 2026 National Olympiads thus mark a new stage in the Government's desire to make Benin an African benchmark in terms of education, training and skills development in artificial intelligence.

About the National Artificial Intelligence Olympiads
The National Artificial Intelligence Olympiads constitute the main national system for identifying, training and preparing young Beninese talents in artificial intelligence. They are organized by the Government of Benin through the MTDI, the MESRS, the MESTFP and the Sèmè City Development Agency with a view to preparing Benin's participation in the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiads.

Face à ces mutations, le Bénin a fait du développement des compétences numériques avancées une priorité nationale à travers la Stratégie Nationale d'Intelligence Artificielle et des Mégadonnées (SNIAM 2023-2027). Les Olympiades Nationales d'Intelligence Artificielle s'inscrivent dans cette ambition : identifier, former et accompagner les meilleurs jeunes talents béninois afin de préparer une nouvelle génération capable de contribuer au développement technologique du pays. Une compétition nationale au service de l’excellence À l’issue de cette première phase de sélection, 16 lauréats seront retenus pour poursuivre l’aventure. Ils bénéficieront d’un accompagnement renforcé comprenant : • la remise de kits pédagogiques spécialisés ;• un programme intensif de préparation ;• un bootcamp dédié aux compétences techniques, à la résolution de problèmes, à l’anglais scientifique et au travail en équipe ;• un encadrement assuré par des experts et mentors. Au terme de ce parcours, 8 jeunes constitueront l’équipe nationale qui représentera le Bénin aux Olympiades Internationales d’Intelligence Artificielle 2026 au Kazakhstan.
