Syria joins cryptocurrency tracking and cybercrime financing seminar in Madrid

Madrid, June 28 (SANA)Syria’sInterior Ministrytook part in a seminar inMadridon tracking cryptocurrencies and combatingcybercrime financingas part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and enhance expertise in tackling emerging forms of organized crime.

The seminar, held at the Spanish National Police Academy in coordination withNaif Arab University for Security Sciences, brought together specialists in cybersecurity, financial investigations and cybercrime.

According to the Interior Ministry, the Syrian delegation was headed by Brig. Gen. Maher Mohammed Marai, director of thePolice College,and included several ministry officers.

The discussions focused on methods for tracingcryptocurrenciesused to finance criminal activities, digital forensic analysis, detecting suspicious transactions and strengthening international cooperation in cross-border investigations. Participants also reviewed the latest technologies and practices in combating cybercrime and its financing.

The ministry said the participation reflects its commitment to developing the capabilities of its personnel, keeping pace with advances in combating cybercrime and strengthening scientific and institutional cooperation through the exchange of expertise to supportSyria’s securityand law enforcement system.
