Customs seize Captagon pills,counterfeit currency and antiquities in first half of 2026
Damascus, June 27 (SANA)– Syria’s General Customs Directorate, linked to the General Authority for Ports and Customs,announced that during the first half of 2026 it seized more than one millionCaptagon pills,dozens of kilograms ofnarcotics, including cocaine and cannabis, confiscated counterfeit currency, foiled attempts to smuggle hundreds of antiquities, and seized quantities of precious metals.
The General Authority for Ports and Customs said in statistics published on its Telegram channel on Saturday that theGeneral Customs Directorateintercepted 1,343,722 Captagon pills, 153.3 kilograms of cocaine, and 40.4 kilograms of cannabis during the first half of the year.
The authority also said customs officers seized $83,550 in counterfeitU.S. currencyand 345,000 counterfeit Syrian pounds, in addition to confiscating 122 weapons and rounds of ammunition.
According to the statistics, the General Customs Directorate also foiled attempts to smuggle 266antiquitie piecesas part of efforts to protectSyria’s national heritage. It further seized 4,712 grams of gold and 27.43 kilograms of silver.
These efforts are part ofbroader measuresto protect the national economy, combatdrug traffickingfostered by the deposed regime, and safeguard Syria’s cultural heritage from looting and illicit trafficking, while strengthening the role of the relevant institutions in protecting society and the country’s national resources.
