Damascus, June 27 (SANA)Members ofSyria’s national physics teamcompleted the theoretical and practical examinations of the2026 International Scientific Physics Olympiad(ISPhO 2026), held over two days in a fully remote format.

The competition was organized by Russia’s Ministry of Education in cooperation with theMoscow Institute of Physics and Technology(MIPT) as part of the fourth edition of the Olympiad.

TheDistinction and Creativity Agencysaid on its official Facebook page on Saturday that the students sat the two examinations on June 24 and 26, 2026. The tests were held at the Agency’s headquarters and at the University of Latakia through a fully digital system using online platforms and modern technologies designed to ensure equal opportunities for all participating countries.

It added that Syria’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting outstanding students and enabling them to represent the country at international scientific competitions, while giving them the opportunity to gain advanced scientific experience, develop their abilities and enhance their competitiveness on the global stage.

The Olympiad brings together national teams of up to five students and two team leaders from each participating country. English is the competition’s official language, with team leaders responsible for translating the exam questions into their national languages.

Earlier this year, Syria’s national physics team won five medals at theKAI International Physics Olympiad(KAIPhO 2026), which was held remotely in mid-May under the supervision of Kazan National Research Technical University (KNRTU-KAI) in Russia, with the participation of students from 15 countries.

International Scientific Physics Olympiad (ISPhO) is one of the world’s leading science competitions for secondary school students. It aims to assess participants’ analytical andscientific abilitiesin both theoretical and experimental physics, promoting scientific exchange among participating countries.
