Onesvie llama a la prevención sísmica y evaluación de infraestructuras ante recientes sismos en la región
Santo Domingo.–The National Office for Seismic Assessment and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie) reaffirmed its commitment to national security and intensified its call for permanent preparation against seismic risks, pointing out that the recent earthquakes registered in Venezuela constitute a reminder of the importance of reducing structural vulnerability.
The institution reiterated that the periodic evaluation of critical infrastructures in the country - such as hospitals, schools and public buildings - continues to be a national priority, reaffirming its commitment to continue promoting training, preventive evaluation and awareness-raising actions aimed at protecting lives and strengthening the response capacity of the Dominican Republic to large-scale events.
Onesvie expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela in the face of the recent earthquakes that caused significant damage to buildings, infrastructure and communities, as well as human losses. The institution expressed its concern about the human, social and economic consequences derived from this emergency, extending a message of support to the Venezuelan authorities and their civil protection agencies.
