Supérate entrega Bono de Emergencia a más de 1,700 familias afectadas por las lluvias en el Gran Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo.-The Directorate of Social Development Superate began the delivery of the Emergency Bonus to 1,766 families in Greater Santo Domingo affected by the heavy rains and floods recorded last April, as part of the Adaptive Social Protection (PSA) strategy aimed at strengthening the resilience of vulnerable households before crisis situations and climate events.
The benefited families correspond to Los Alcarrizos, Santo Domingo Oeste and Pedro Brand, which received a contribution of RD 7,000 per home, which represents a total investment of RD 12,362,000 destined to contribute to the recovery of homes affected by the floods.
During the event, the general director of Supérate, Mayra Jiménez, highlighted that the delivery of the Emergency Bonus in these municipalities responds to the vision of a close Government, which places those who face greater conditions of vulnerability at the center of public policies.
"That is why the social protection policy has been strengthened, so that every time a family is affected by an emergency, they feel the support and backing of their Government, through all institutions and local authorities. Today this Emergency Bonus comes to complement that support, especially for those who lost everything, spent weeks without being able to work, had to go into debt or need to buy medicine," Jiménez stressed.
Meanwhile, the mayor of the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, Junior Santos, highlighted that, in addition to this delivery, the Government has developed various actions aimed at reducing the vulnerability of communities affected by floods, which has allowed progress in important drainage and sanitation works.
Likewise, he reported that in the coming days new interventions will be carried out to continue mitigating the risk of flooding in other sectors of the municipality.
He also specified that, after the effects of the recent floods, the Government deployed an extensive response, with the delivery of more than 7,000 appliances, thousands of household items, more than 20,000 food rations and other aid intended for affected families.
In that order, the authorities reported that in the month of May, 69,000 families were incorporated into the Luzunas Bonus program, of which 3,500 belong to the municipality of Los Alcarrizos.
The delivery of the Emergency Bonus took place today at the Los Alcarrizos multipurpose facility, and will continue tomorrow, Saturday the 27th, at the Professor Germán Martínez High School, in the Los Ríos sector of the National District, where mobile units of the Reserve Bank were enabled to facilitate the exchange in an agile and secure manner.
In Santo Domingo Norte, the delivery to the beneficiary families will take place next week.
This delivery is made based on the surveys and validation processes of the Single Beneficiary System (Siuben), taking as reference the Basic Emergency File (FIBE), with the aim of guaranteeing that assistance reaches the homes with the highest level of impact and vulnerability.
The Emergency Bonus is part of the Dominican Government's Adaptive Social Protection policy, designed to offer timely responses to households in situations of vulnerability to emergencies, natural disasters and unforeseen contingencies.
More than 93,000 families protected
Supérate maintains extensive social protection coverage in these municipalities. In Los Alcarrizos, the institution benefits 43,039 families; in Santo Domingo Oeste, to 36,213 homes, and in Pedro Brand, to 13,813 families, for a total of more than 93,000 families that receive support through the different social programs of the Government such as Aliméntate, Bono Gas and Bono Luz.

En tanto, el alcalde del municipio de Los Alcarrizos,Junior Santos,destacó que, además de esta entrega, el Gobierno ha desarrolladodiversas accionesorientadas areducir la vulnerabilidadde las comunidades afectadas por las inundaciones, lo que ha permitido avanzar en importantesobras de drenaje y saneamiento. Asimismo, informó que en los próximos días se ejecutaránnuevas intervencionespara continuar mitigando el riesgo de inundaciones en otros sectores del municipio. Precisó además que, tras los efectos de las recientes inundaciones, el Gobierno desplegó unaamplia respuesta, con la entrega demás de 7,000 electrodomésticos, miles de enseres para el hogar,más de 20,000 raciones alimenticiasy otras ayudas destinadas a las familias afectadas. En ese orden, las autoridades informaron que en el mes de mayo fueron incorporadas al programaBono Luzunas69,000 familias, de las cuales 3,500 pertenecen al municipio de Los Alcarrizos.
