President Meets Nigerian Music Star Ayra Starr Ahead of Seychelles’ 50th Independence Celebrations
The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie, today welcomed Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr during a courtesy call ahead of her highly anticipated performance in Seychelles.
Ayra Starr, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, is a globally acclaimed Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer from Lagos, widely recognised for her unique blend of Afrobeats, Afropop, R&B, and soul music. She has earned international acclaim through hit songs such asRush,Bloody Samaritan, andAway, becoming one of Africa’s most influential young artists.
The artist arrived in Seychelles specifically to participate in activities marking the 50th Anniversary of Seychelles’ Independence, joining the nation in celebrating this historic milestone.
During the meeting, President Herminie welcomed Ayra Starr to Seychelles and expressed appreciation for her presence during this important national celebration. The President noted that Seychelles’ Independence golden jubilee is not only a reflection on the country’s journey over the past five decades but also a celebration of culture, unity, and international friendship.
Ayra Starr expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she received since arriving in Seychelles, highlighting the kindness and hospitality of the Seychellois people. She also shared her admiration for the country’s natural beauty, describing Seychelles as breathtaking and expressing excitement about performing for the local audience.
Ayra Starr’s live performance is scheduled for Sunday, 29 June, at Stad Popiler, where thousands are expected to gather for what promises to be one of the highlights of the Independence celebrations.
