Journée de l'Enfant Africain 2026 : Le Bénin donne la parole aux enfants et réaffirme son engagement pour leur épanouissement
End clap, on Thursday June 25, 2026 in Dassa-Zoumè, official events for the Day of the African Child 2026, organized by the Ministry of Family and Social Action around the theme: “Guarantee universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene for all children in Africa”. Placed under the auspices of Mrs. Agnès BADOU SAVI, Deputy Director of Cabinet, representing the Minister, this edition was marked by an approach consisting of giving a voice to children and making them the main actors of the celebration. The highlight was the national poetry competition. After a written phase having recorded more than 72 productions, examined by a selection committee according to rigorous criteria, fourteen (14) finalists, representing the twelve departments of Benin as well as the Centers for the Social Promotion of the Blind of Cotonou and Parakou, competed in the grand final in Dassa-Zoumè. The candidate from the Atlantic department won first prize. She was followed by candidates from Collines and Atacora. Two special prizes were awarded to the youngest from Zou and to the CPSA candidate from Sègbèya. Their stay was enriched by an educational visit to the Gobé drinking water treatment and discharge site, in Savè, then by a dinner of exchanges with the authorities and partners, in a warm and family atmosphere. The official ceremony was marked by the proclamation of the results and the presentation of distinctions to the winners. The Prefect of the Collines department, Mr. Saliou ODOUBOU, welcomed the choice made by his department to host this celebration. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ali OUATARA, Deputy Head of the Gender and Social Protection Thematic Group, and Mr. Ousmane NIANG, UNICEF Representative in Benin, congratulated the Government for the progress made in the protection of children and renewed the commitment of their institutions to continue this support. The message from the representative of the finalist children reflected, with simplicity and sincerity, the joy, recognition and pride of all the participants at having been listened to, valued and associated with each stage of this celebration. An emotion which sums up the spirit of this 2026 edition, during which children were not only the beneficiaries of the activities, but real actors. On behalf of the Minister, Mrs. Agnès BADOU SAVI spoke of the progress recorded in Benin in favor of children and reaffirmed the Government's firm desire to continue investments in their favor, convinced that they constitute the most precious wealth and the future of the Nation.

Placée sous les auspices de Madame Agnès BADOU SAVI, Directrice Adjointe de Cabinet, représentant la Ministre, cette édition a été marquée par une approche consistant à donner la parole aux enfants et à en faire les principaux acteurs de la célébration.Le temps fort a été le concours national de poésie. Après une phase écrite ayant enregistré plus de 72 productions, examinées par un comité de sélection suivant des critères rigoureux, quatorze (14) finalistes, représentant les douze départements du Bénin ainsi que les Centres de Promotion Sociale des Aveugles de Cotonou et de Parakou, ont disputé la grande finale à Dassa-Zoumè. La candidate venue du département de l'Atlantique a remporté le premier prix. Elle a été suivie des candidats des Collines et de l'Atacora. Deux prix spéciaux ont été décernés au plus jeune venu du Zou et au candidat du CPSA de Sègbèya. Leur séjour a été enrichi par une visite pédagogique du site de traitement et de refoulement d'eau potable de Gobé, à Savè, puis par un dîner d'échanges avec les autorités et les partenaires, dans une ambiance chaleureuse et familiale.La cérémonie officielle a été marquée par la proclamation des résultats et la remise des distinctions aux lauréats. Le Préfet du département des Collines, Monsieur Saliou ODOUBOU a salué le choix porté sur son département pour accueillir cette célébration. Intervenant à l'occasion, Monsieur Ali OUATARA, Chef de file adjoint du Groupe Thématique Genre et Protection Sociale, et Monsieur Ousmane NIANG, Représentant de l'UNICEF au Bénin, ont félicité le Gouvernement pour les progrès accomplis en matière de protection des enfants et renouvelé l'engagement de leurs institutions à poursuivre cet accompagnement.Le message du représentant des enfants finalistes a traduit, avec simplicité et sincérité, la joie, la reconnaissance et la fierté de tous les participants d'avoir été écoutés, valorisés et associés à chaque étape de cette célébration. Une émotion qui résume l'esprit de cette édition 2026, au cours de laquelle les enfants n'ont pas seulement été les bénéficiaires des activités, mais de véritables acteurs.Au nom de la Ministre, Madame Agnès BADOU SAVI a évoqué les avancées enregistrées au Bénin en faveur des enfants et a réaffirmé la ferme volonté du Gouvernement de poursuivre les investissements en leur faveur, convaincu qu'ils constituent la richesse la plus précieuse et l'avenir de la Nation.
