President Herminie Presides Over SDF Officer Promotion and Commissioning Ceremony

President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief, Dr Patrick Herminie, this morning presided over a promotion and commissioning ceremony for officers of the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), marking a significant milestone in the professional advancement of several serving members.

The ceremony saw two officers elevated in rank. Major Ivel Ernesta was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Lieutenant Colonel Hans Radegonde, who had been promoted to the same rank whilst attending an overseas course in the United States of America and was unable to be present on that occasion, was formally presented with his rank at today's ceremony.

Four officers were subsequently commissioned, receiving their epaulettes and Commissioning Certificates in recognition of their qualification as officers of the SDF. Officer Cadets Martina Mederic and Stephanie Deletoudi-Souris were commissioned as Lieutenants, having completed mandatory Officer Cadet Training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, India. Officer Cadet Shamira Simeon and Corporal Richard Francourt were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. Corporal Francourt's commissioning was notable, as a non-commissioned officer recognised for his extensive training and experience in his field.

President Herminie was joined at the ceremony by Vice-President Mr Sebastien Pillay, Chief of Defence Forces Major General Micheal Rosette, senior SDF officers, and the family members of the newly promoted and commissioned officers. Major General Rosette assisted the Commander in Chief with the conferral of ranks.

The promotions and commissioning were conducted in accordance with established criteria governing rank advancement within the Seychelles Defence Forces.
