Washington, June 26 (SANA)Ecuador came from behind to defeatGermany2-1 on Thursday and secure a place in the Round of 32 atthe 2026 FIFA World Cup,while Germany and Ivory Coast also advanced from Group E.

Germany took an early lead through Leroy Sané in the second minute, but Ecuador responded with goals from Angulo in the ninth minute and Gonzalo Plata in the 77th to claim a crucial victory at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The result lifted Ecuador to four points, enough to qualify as one of the tournament’s eight best third-placed teams. Germany, which had already secured qualification after its second group match, finished top of the group with six points.

In the other Group E match, Ivory Coast defeated Curaçao 2-0 to secure its place in the knockout stage.

Ivory Coastalso finished with six points but placed second behind Germany on goal difference.
