Fuerza Élite continúa con la estrategia nacional para combatir el crimen organizado
The President of the Republic, Laura Fernández Delgado, led this Monday the third work session of Fuerza Elite, a strategic coordination space that brings together the main authorities responsible for national security.
As part of efforts to ensure transparency and trust in public management, the Minister of Justice and Peace, the Minister of Communication and Liaison and the Director of the DIS successfully underwent polygraph tests, reaffirming their commitment to integrity and accountability.
At the meeting they also agreed on new steps in the frontal fight against organized crime, such as the reform of the General Law on Migration and Immigration, with the purpose of closing loopholes that currently allow the recurrent entry into the country of people linked to transnational criminal structures.
The authorities addressed the situation facing the Crucitas area and the strategies to combat illicit activities that affect that region. Likewise, we announce that this month we will present to the Legislative Assembly a package of bills aimed at strengthening the legal framework on security.
It is necessary to review the legislation related to the possession and sale of weapons, in order to strengthen controls on the profiles of people who acquire weapons and those who participate in their sale.
As a result of the actions promoted by the Government of the Republic and the security institutions, the country registers 44 fewer homicides compared to the same period of the previous year, a figure that reflects the progress made in the fight against violence and crime.
The third session of the Elite Force had the participation of the director of the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ), Michael Soto, but the attorney general, Carlo Díaz and other members of the Judiciary were conspicuous by their absence.
The Government reaffirms its commitment to continue working in a firm, coordinated and determined manner to guarantee the tranquility of Costa Rican families and forcefully confront the threats of organized crime.

La Presidente de la República, Laura Fernández Delgado, encabezó este lunes la tercera sesión de trabajo de Fuerza Élite, espacio de coordinación estratégica que reúne a las principales autoridades responsables de la seguridad nacional. Como parte de los esfuerzos para garantizar la transparencia y la confianza en la gestión pública, el Ministro de Justicia y Paz, el Ministro de Comunicación y Enlace y el Director de la DIS se sometieron satisfactoriamente a pruebas de polígrafo, reafirmando su compromiso con la integridad y la rendición de cuentas. En el encuentro también acordaron nuevos pasos en la lucha frontal contra el crimen organizado, tales como la reforma a la Ley General de Migración y Extranjería, con el propósito de cerrar portillos que actualmente permiten el ingreso recurrente al país de personas vinculadas con estructuras criminales transnacionales. Las autoridades abordaron la situación que enfrenta la zona de Crucitas y las estrategias para combatir las actividades ilícitas que afectan esa región. De igual manera, comunicamos que este mes presentaremos ante la Asamblea Legislativa un paquete de proyectos de ley orientados a fortalecer el marco jurídico en materia de seguridad. Es necesario revisar la legislación relacionada con la tenencia y comercialización de armas, con el fin de fortalecer los controles sobre los perfiles de las personas que adquieren armamento y sobre quienes participan en su venta. Como resultado de las acciones impulsadas por el Gobierno de la República y las instituciones de seguridad, el país registra 44 homicidios menos en comparación con el mismo periodo del año anterior, una cifra que refleja los avances alcanzados en la lucha contra la violencia y la delincuencia. La tercera sesión de la Fuerza Élite contó con la participación del director del Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ), Michael Soto, pero el fiscal general, Carlo Díaz y otros miembros del Poder Judicial brillaron por su ausencia. El Gobierno reafirma su compromiso de continuar trabajando de manera firme, coordinada y decidida para garantizar la tranquilidad de las familias costarricenses y enfrentar con contundencia las amenazas del crimen organizado.
