El-Sisi: US-Iran final deal must ensure Arab and Gulf security

Cairo, June 21 (SANA)Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said Sunday that any final agreement between the United States and Iran must ensure the security of Gulf states and all Arab countries, while respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The remarks were made during a meeting in Cairo with the foreign ministers of a regional Quartet group comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.

El-Sisisaid a future deal should adhere to principles of good neighborliness, guarantee freedom of navigation, and resolve disputes through peaceful means. He also called for continued coordination to support implementation of aUS-Iran memorandum of understandingand to advance negotiations toward a comprehensive and sustainable agreement.

The president praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides, describing it as helping bridge differences during the negotiation process.

El-Sisi said recent regional developments underscore the importance of cooperation among the four countries in supporting security and stability. He added that Egypt supports developing the Quartet mechanism into a more structured framework capable of addressing regional crises and proposing long-term solutions.

He also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to working with regional partners to support peace efforts and called for progress toward a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, describing it as central to long-term regional stability.

Foreign ministers attending the meeting expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in promoting regional stability and emphasized the need to build on the outcomes of the Quartet’s fourth meeting, including strengthening joint coordination mechanisms in the coming phase.

Earlier Sunday, the foreign ministers ofEgypt,Türkiye,Saudi Arabia, andPakistanbegan their quadrilateral meeting in Cairo to discuss regional developments and follow up on the implementation of the US-Iran understanding.
