My response to Donald Trump's latest post regarding me. But I won't go back to the topic, because I still believe in the unity of the West and I don't think this is a show up to our task.
➡️ President Trump, these continuous and gratuitous attacks are senseless. As for my popularity, being friends with you certainly hasn't helped me, nor does it depend on my relationship with you. My popularity depends on my ability to defend the Italian national interest, and that is exactly what I have always done. This is what I also did regarding the American military bases in Italy. Their use is regulated by agreements that we have always respected, and which cannot be violated as long as I am Prime Minister. Italy is still a sovereign nation. In any case, my popularity does not concern you. I would suggest you focus on yours.

Ma non tornerò sull'argomento, perché credo ancora nell'unità dell'Occidente e non credo che questo sia uno spettacolo all'altezza del nostro compito. ➡️ Presidente Trump, questi continui e gratuiti attacchi sono privi di senso. Quanto alla mia popolarità, esserti amica non mi ha certamente aiutata, né dipende dal mio rapporto con te. La mia popolarità dipende dalla mia capacità di difendere l’interesse nazionale italiano, ed è esattamente quello che ho sempre fatto. È quello che ho fatto anche riguardo alle basi militari americane in Italia. Il loro utilizzo è regolato da accordi che abbiamo sempre rispettato, e che non possono essere violati finché sarò Presidente del Consiglio. L’Italia è ancora una Nazione sovrana. In ogni caso, la mia popolarità non ti riguarda. Ti suggerirei di concentrarti sulla tua.
