Presidente Abinader entrega 700 apartamentos del Plan Familia Feliz en la Urbanización San José, Santo Domingo Norte
Santo Domingo Norte.–The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, delivered this Friday 700 apartments corresponding to the Happy Family National Housing Plan, in the San José Urbanization, which reaffirms the Government's commitment to access to decent housing solutions for Dominican families.
During the event, the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings, Víctor Bisonó, highlighted that the initiative constitutes one of the clearest expressions of a public policy focused on people. "When we talk about housing, we talk much more than concrete, blocks or apartments; we talk about tranquility, stability, the future and, above all, families."
Bisonó explained that, of the nearly 700 apartments delivered, 434 already have defined families, to benefit more than 1,300 Dominicans who are beginning a new stage under their own, safe and dignified roof.
Likewise, he highlighted that almost 60% of the owners are women and a large proportion are young people between 18 and 35 years old, which shows the impact of the program on the most dynamic sectors of society.
The official also highlighted the State's contribution through subsidies that exceed RD 477 million, which has facilitated access to housing and reduced the financial burden of beneficiary families. "This support from the Government makes a difference and allows thousands of Dominicans to take the most important step in their property life: becoming owners of their home."
Project includes more than 1,500 homes
For his part, the manager of the San José Project, Manuel Emilio Bisonó Pacheco, stressed that the delivery of this second stage represents a firm step in the objective of guaranteeing decent housing for hundreds of families.
He indicated that the project, conceived under sustainability and comprehensive well-being criteria, includes its own aqueduct, wastewater treatment system, electrical networks, green areas, recreational spaces and paved streets.
“Decent housing is not a privilege, it is a right that corresponds to every Dominican family,” he stated, while pointing out that the project includes more than 1,500 housing units for low-income families.
Meanwhile, the executive vice president of the Reserve Bank, Alieska Díaz, highlighted the financial entity's commitment to the social development of the country, by fully financing 700 apartments with an approximate investment of RD 1.6 billion and a fixed rate of 8% for seven years. “The Reserve Bank is committed to transforming lives through access to decent housing,” she noted.
Díaz also highlighted that this initiative is part of a strategic alliance between the Government, the Ministry of Housing and the private sector, aimed at reducing the housing deficit and facilitating access to the first home.
The San José project is part of the Happy Family Plan and contemplates the continuity of new housing stages in the coming months, as part of the government policy to expand social housing throughout the national territory.

Indicó que el proyecto, concebido bajo criterios desostenibilidad y bienestar integral,incluye acueducto propio, sistema de tratamiento de aguas residuales, redes eléctricas, áreas verdes, espacios recreativos y calles pavimentadas. “Una vivienda digna no es un privilegio, es un derecho que le corresponde a cada familia dominicana”,afirmó, al tiempo de señalar que el proyecto contemplamás de 1,500 unidadeshabitacionalesdestinadas a familias de bajos ingresos. En tanto, la vicepresidenta ejecutiva del Banco de Reservas,Alieska Díaz, resaltó el compromiso de la entidad financiera con el desarrollo social del país, al financiar de manera íntegra 700 apartamentos con una inversión aproximada de RD 1,600 millones y unatasa fija de 8 % por siete años.“El Banco de Reservas está comprometido con transformar vidas a través del acceso a viviendas dignas”,señaló. Díaz destacó además que esta iniciativa forma parte de unaalianza estratégica entre el Gobierno, el Ministerio de Vivienda y el sector privado, orientada a reducir el déficit habitacional y facilitar el acceso a la primera vivienda. El proyecto San José forma parte del Plan Familia Feliz y contempla la continuidad denuevas etapas habitacionales en los próximos meses, como parte de la política gubernamental de expansión de viviendas sociales en todo el territorio nacional.
