Syrian chambers, Turkish health ministry discuss health cooperation, investment
Damascus, June 19 (SANA)The head of the Foreign Relations Committee and member of the Union of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Anas al-Bou, met on Friday with Aziz Alper Biten, director general of external relations and theEuropean Unionat the Turkish Health Ministry, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the health sector and its role in supporting economic development, the union said.
During the meeting at the union’s headquarters in Damascus, both sides stressed the importance of strengthening coordination and expanding health cooperation to develop medical services and enhance economic and investment partnership opportunities between Syria and Türkiye, according to a union statement.
Al-Bou presented the union’s vision for supporting public and private hospitals and improving the quality of health services in line with the requirements of the coming phase, highlighting the importance of developing the health sector as a vital priority sector and its role in supporting economic development and attractinginvestment.
Biten emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and developing cooperation between the two sides in health fields to enhance economic partnerships, while reviewing the experience ofTürkiye‘s health system, the union said.
The meeting comes as part of efforts to strengthen Syrian-Turkish cooperation across various sectors, particularly health. Earlier Friday, the Syrian and Turkish health ministers signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector, developing coordination, exchanging expertise and building health capacities between the two countries.
