Lutte contre la criminalité au Bénin : L’ANRACS détruit une quantité importante de stupéfiants à Ouèssè
In Benin, the National Agency for the Recovery of Confiscated and Seized Assets (ANRACS) proceeded, on Thursday, June 18, 2016, to the incineration of an impressive quantity of seized drugs and medicines. The operation, which took place on the Ouèssè technical landfill site in the commune of Ouidah, brought together eminent judicial authorities from Benin, marking a significant milestone in the national strategy for the destruction of illicit substances. Under the leadership of the Director General of ANRACS, Mr. Raynier Florent GNANSOUNOU, the destruction operation targeted products originating from various seizures carried out by the Court for the Repression of Economic Offenses and Terrorism (CRIET) and by other jurisdictions in the country. The Director General of ANRACS underlined the importance of this action, which falls directly within the prerogatives of the Agency he heads, and which is responsible for the management of confiscated and seized property as part of the fight against crime. "This intense and immense fire behind me is an incineration operation," declared the Director General. “It is part of our missions, in particular the destruction of dangerous and harmful goods such as psychotropic products, drugs and other narcotics.” Among the substances incinerated were large quantities of cannabis and, notably, 95 kilograms of cocaine, notably coming from a recent seizure at the autonomous port of Cotonou. The Director General, Mr. Raynier Florent GNANSOUNOU, insisted on the diligence with which these products must be destroyed, thus meeting the requirements of international standards and confirming Benin's compliance in the fight against drugs. Concerning the security of the population, rigorous measures have been put in place: the site is fenced and a robust team of security agents, including elements of the army and the police, ensured the protection of the operation. The Director General finally launched a vibrant appeal to the Beninese populations, inviting them to be vigilant and to truly engage in the fight against illicit products. He also praised the work of the police, reaffirming their determination to leave no room for illicit activities. “The police are keeping a watchful eye, nothing will pass, nothing will escape their vigilance,” he affirmed, at the same time thanking the government for the support given to ANRACS.

Concernant la sécurité des populations, des mesures rigoureuses ont été mises en place : le site est clôturé et une équipe robuste d'agents de sécurité, incluant des éléments de l'armée et de la police, a assuré la protection de l'opération.Le Directeur Général a, pour finir, lancé un appel vibrant aux populations béninoises, les invitant à la vigilance et à s'engager véritablement dans la lutte contre les produits illicites. Il a également salué le travail des forces de l'ordre, réaffirmant leur détermination à ne laisser aucune place aux activités illicites. "Les forces de l'ordre veillent au grain, rien ne passera, rien n'échappera à leur vigilance," a-t-il affirmé, remerciant par la même occasion le gouvernement pour le soutien apporté à l'ANRACS.
