Ministra de Interior y Policía y Director General de la Policía coordinan acciones con Puerto Rico para enfrentar el crimen transnacional
San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, and the Director General of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, held a high-level meeting today with the Secretary of the Department of Public Security of Puerto Rico, General Arturo Garffer, and the Superintendent of the Police, Joseph González, to expand intelligence cooperation and coordinate joint actions against transnational organized crime.
The geographical proximity between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, as well as the constant maritime and air flow between both territories, makes this corridor a key point for the detection and combat of drug trafficking, illicit arms trafficking, money laundering and other threats that affect regional security.
The Dominican delegation was also made up of the central director of Investigation (Dicrim), General Pedro Ignacio Matos Pérez, along with specialists in criminal investigation and intelligence. During the meeting, the authorities addressed measures to strengthen the control and information exchange mechanisms on private flights and optimize early clearance systems to detect movements linked to transnational criminal activities.
The visit reaffirms the commitment of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to deepen their cooperation in security through coordinated actions, exchange of strategic information and strengthening capacities to combat transnational organized crime.
