At least 24 killed, dozens injured in latest Israeli strikes on Lebanon

Beirut, June 19 (SANA)At least 24 people were killed and dozens injured on Friday in a new wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting southern and easternLebanon, including areas in the Bekaa Valley, according to Lebanese officials.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), citing the Health Ministry’s Emergency Operations Center, reported that six people were killed and six others wounded in Israeli strikes on areas in the Baalbek district.

A strike on the town of Ain Bourday near Baalbek killed three people and wounded six others in a preliminary toll, while another strike on a farm in the town of Jamaliyeh, north of Baalbek, killed three people, the agency said.

Israeli strikesalso targeted the town of Touline in the Marjeyoun district in southern Lebanon, causing material damage, according to the report.

Earlier on Friday, 18 people were killed and 33 others wounded in intensive Israeli airstrikes on several towns and areas in southern Lebanon, bringing the day’s death toll to at least 24, Lebanese health authorities said.

The latest strikes came as Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri reaffirmed the commitment of Lebanon andHezbollahmilitia to a ceasefire agreement linked to the U.S.-Iran agreement signed on Thursday, provided that Israel fully complies with its terms.

On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States was seeking a full and comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts in the Middle East, including Lebanon.

The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding addressing a number of outstanding issues between the two countries, including the stabilization of the cessation of military operations and ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.F.J./ABD
