Canada secures historic World Cup win against Qatar

Ottawa, June 19 (SANA)The Canadian national football team achieved its first victory in the history of its World Cup participations on Friday, defeating its Qatari counterpart 6-0.

The match took place at BC Place Stadium in the Canadian city of Vancouver, as part of the second round of Group B matches in the2026 World Cup.

The Canadian team’s goals were scored by Cyle Larin in the 16th minute, Jonathan David with a hat-trick in the 29th, 45+3, and 90+2 minutes, Nathan Saliba in the 64th minute, and Mohammed Al-Mannai, who scored an own goal in the 75th minute.

The Qatari team played the match with nine players following the sent-off of Homam Ahmed and Assim Madibo.

With this result,Canadaleads the Group B standings with 4 points, ahead on goal difference of Switzerland, which holds the same number of points.

Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina occupies third place with one point, andQatarsits in last place with the same balance but trailing on goal difference.
