Reuters analysis of maritime traffic showed the vessels, which departed from Saudi ports, were the largest by cargo volume to pass through the strategic waterway in several weeks.

The transit came hours after the signing of aU.S.–Iranmemorandum of understanding aimed at de-escalating tensions and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route through which a large share of Gulfcrude exportsflows to international markets.
