Hegseth warns U.S. could resume military action if Iran fails to honor deal

Brussels, June 18 (SANA)U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the United States is prepared to resume military operations and reimpose a blockade on Iran if Tehran fails to meet its commitments under the agreement.

Speaking to reporters in Brussels following a meeting withNATOdefense ministers on Thursday, Hegseth said the United States would take further action if Iran does not adhere to the agreed timetable and obligations.

“If Iran does not comply with its commitments within the agreed timeframe, we are fully prepared to resume military operations,” Hegseth said.

He added that Washington is also capable of reimposing a blockade should Iran fail to comply with the terms of the agreement.

Hegseth stressed that the U.S. position is aimed at ensuring implementation of the agreement and that all parties fulfill their commitments.

Earlier on Wednesday,U.S. President Donald Trumpwarned at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Évian, France, that the United States could resume airstrikes if the next phase of negotiations with Iran fails to produce satisfactory results.
