Türkiye prioritizes Syria’s stability and broader cooperation with Lebanon
Ankara, June 17 (SANA)Turkish Vice PresidentCevdet Yilmazsaid Wednesday that joint efforts contributing to stability inSyriaand the development of cooperation withLebanonacross various sectors remain among Ankara’s priorities.
According to Türkiye’s Anadolu Agency, Yilmaz made the remarks in a post on the Turkish social media platform “In Sosyal” after receiving Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri and his accompanying delegation.
Yilmaz said that expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, and defense, alongside policies that include all segments of Lebanese society and joint efforts supporting stability in Syria, are key priorities for Ankara.
“Türkiye would continue supporting Lebanon’s security, stability, and economic development,” he added, expressing hope for stronger cooperation to support peace, stability, and prosperity in Lebanon and the wider region.
Yilmaz stressed the importance of strengthening regional solidarity in the face of Israeli expansionist policies, saying that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity constitutes a clear breach of international law.He said discussions with Mitri covered regional developments, including the Israeli military actions in Lebanon and their impact on the region.
