At the Russia-ASEAN Business Forum today, I quoted the words of Tatarstan's great poet, Abdullah Tukay, that "only in serving the people do I admit true happiness." This order reminds that the main goal of every policy and economic cooperation is to improve the well-being of the people. The world is currently facing many challenges, from geopolitical uncertainty and supply chain disruptions to increasingly fierce technological competition. In this situation, we need to strengthen cooperation, not move alone. ASEAN has proven itself as one of the most dynamic and resilient economic regions, based on openness, inclusiveness and cooperation. In the same spirit, ASEAN and Russia have great potential to expand cooperation in strategic areas such as food security, energy, digital technology, education and talent development. I also welcome the development of the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Program on Trade and Investment Cooperation 2026-2035 which will strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two parties. ASEAN will continue to defend a trading system that is open, fair and guided by mutually agreed rules. In an increasingly uncertain world, economic resilience must be strengthened without sacrificing the spirit of cooperation. All the understandings reached must be translated into actions that generate opportunities, create prosperity and bring tangible benefits to the people. ====== At the Russia-ASEAN Business Forum today, I underlined the need for stronger cooperation, deeper trust and a renewed commitment to shared prosperity in a rapidly changing world. Di Forum Perniagaan Rusia-ASEAN hari ini, saya memetik kata-kata penyair agung Tatarstan, Abdullah Tukay, bahawa “only in serving the people do I admit true happiness.” Pesanan ini mengingatkan bahawa matlamat utama setiap dasar dan kerjasama ekonomi adalah untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat. Dunia kini berdepan pelbagai tantangan, daripada ketidaktentuan geopolitik dan gangguan rantaian bekalan hinggalah kepada persaingan teknologi yang semakin sengit. Dalam keadaan ini, kita perlu memperkukuh kerjasama, bukan bergerak bersendirian. ASEAN telah membuktikan dirinya sebagai antara rantau ekonomi paling dinamik dan berdaya tahan, berteraskan keterbukaan, keterangkuman dan kerjasama. Dalam semangat sama, ASEAN dan Rusia mempunyai potensi besar untuk memperluas kerjasama dalam bidang strategik seperti keselamatan makanan, tenaga, teknologi digital, pendidikan dan pembangunan bakat. Saya turut mengalu-alukan pembangunan ASEAN-Russia Strategic Programme on Trade and Investment Cooperation 2026–2035 yang bakal memperkukuh hubungan perdagangan, pelaburan dan kerjasama ekonomi kedua-dua pihak.
