Syrian Civil Defense responds to 221 incidents across Syria, 18 injured

Damascus, June 17 (SANA)SyrianCivil Defense teamsresponded to 221 incidents across the country over the past 24 hours, includingfires and traffic accidentsthat left 18 people injured, the agency said Wednesday on its Telegram channel.

According to the agency,emergency crewsresponded to 19 traffic accidents on Tuesday that injured 16 civilians. The injured received first aid before being transported to hospitals for further treatment, while teams secured the affected areas and removed accident debris.

The Civil Defense urged motorists to reduce speed, ensure vehicles are in good mechanical condition and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.

Firefighters also responded to 202 fires nationwide, including 24 incidents involving agricultural fields and crops and 178 fires affecting homes, shops, grasslands, trees, waste sites and electrical infrastructure.

Two people were injured in the fires and received first aid treatment, while damage in the remaining incidents was limited to property losses, the agency said.

The Civil Defense called on residents to avoid lighting fires in forests and agricultural areas, refrain from discarding cigarette butts or glass containers near roadsides and fields, and remove dry vegetation around homes and roads using safe methods to help reduce fire risks.

The latest figures follow another busy day for emergency crews, which responded to 218 fires and traffic accidents across Syria on Monday, resulting in 16 injuries.
