Qatar condemns Israeli attacks on Syria, Palestine and Lebanon

Geneva, June 17 (SANA)Qatar condemned continued Israeli attacks on Syria, Palestine and Lebanon, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to regional security and stability.

Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Qatar’s permanent representative to theUnited NationsOffice in Geneva, made the remarks during an interactive dialogue on the annual report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights at the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Al Muftah reiterated Qatar’s rejection of illegal Israeli settlement expansion, policies of forced displacement and actions targeting the Palestinian presence in the occupied territories.

She called on the international community to take urgent action to halt the violations, end the Israeli occupation of all Arab territories, open border crossings to ensure the full delivery of humanitarian aid to theGaza Strip, and hold accountable those responsible for violations and crimes.

Al Muftah said that achieving a just and lasting peace, promoting stability and sustainable development, and protecting human rights cannot be achieved through war or policies of repression and persecution. Instead, she said, these goals require dialogue, diplomacy, adherence to international law and the UN Charter, and an approach based on respect for human rights.

Separately, the Qatari diplomat welcomed an agreement reached between the United States and Iran to address outstanding issues between the two countries, including guarantees for freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Al Muftah reaffirmed Qatar’s support for mediation efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability and reaching sustainable solutions to conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means.

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said earlier this week thatQatarwould continue supporting efforts that strengthen international peace and security through dialogue, respect for international law and the principles of good neighborly relations.
