Intrant inaugura primera oficina de licencias de conducir en Jimaní
Jimaní.–The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) inaugurated this Tuesday the first driver's license office in this municipality of the Independencia province, as part of its process of expansion and strengthening of the services it offers to citizens throughout the national territory.
The opening of this new office represents an important advance for the province, by allowing thousands of citizens to carry out their procedures without having to travel to other districts, saving time and resources.
During the opening ceremony, the executive director of Intrant, Milton Morrison, highlighted that this initiative responds to a historical demand from the inhabitants of the province and reaffirms the institutional commitment to bringing public services closer to citizens.
"This opening is part of the efforts of the government of President Luis Abinader to bring services closer to citizens. Today, the Independencia province has an office that responds to a long-awaited need for its inhabitants and that will allow access to quality services without having to travel to other provinces," said Morrison.
The office is located on the main avenue of the municipality of Jimaní, in the Shell fuel station facilities, in front of the military checkpoint, and will offer services from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon.
Citizens will be able to access the services of renewal and duplication of driver's licenses in all categories, renewal; duplicate licenses for members of the National Police, as well as issuance and renewal of licenses for motorcyclists.
The department has specialized personnel for the processes of capturing biometric data, taking photographs, registering fingerprints, printing and delivering documents, guaranteeing agile and efficient attention to users.
The new office will have the capacity to issue up to 200 driver's licenses per day and will directly benefit approximately 6,950 vehicle owners in the Independencia province, according to data from the 2024 Vehicle Park Report of the General Directorate of Internal Revenue (DGII).
Morrison highlighted that this opening is part of the process of modernization and expansion of licensing services developed by the institution throughout the country. He indicated that, to date, Intrant has issued nearly 180,000 driver's licenses under the new model, bringing services closer to more provinces and generating significant savings in time and costs for citizens.
During the activity, the provincial governor, Mercedes Nova, and senator Dagoberto Rodríguez Adames thanked the executive director of Intrant for making the opening of this office possible, highlighting that it is a work long awaited by the inhabitants of the province.
"For many years our province waited for a work like this. Today we see how this need becomes a reality and how the services finally come closer to our people," said the governor.
For his part, Senator Dagoberto Rodríguez affirmed that the new office represents a significant step for the development of the province.
"This was a historic demand of the citizens of Independencia. Today, the inhabitants of Jimaní and the entire province will be able to carry out their procedures more easily and quickly, without having to leave their territory," he stated.
As part of the opening day, Governor Mercedes Nova and Senator Dagoberto Rodríguez Adames carried out the process of renewing their driver's licenses, becoming the first users to receive the document at the new Jimaní office.
The delivery of the licenses was led by the executive director of Intrant, Milton Morrison, who highlighted the importance of promoting the regularization of drivers and continuing to bring these services closer to the different provinces of the country.
The civil governor of the Independencia province, Mercedes Nova, participated in the activity; Senator Dagoberto Rodríguez Adames; the director of Intrant Licensing, Augusto Pérez Sánchez, and the director of Intrant Regions, Esteban Figuereo Solís, together with provincial and municipal authorities, representatives of the media and special guests.
The inauguration included the cutting of the ribbon and a tour of the facilities, formally leaving the first driver's license office in Intranten in the Independencia province in operation.

La oficina está ubicada en laavenida principal del municipio de Jimaní,en las instalaciones de la estación de combustible Shell, frente al retén militar, y ofrecerá serviciosde lunes a viernes, en horariode 8:00 de la mañana a 4:00 de la tarde. Los ciudadanos podrán acceder a los servicios derenovación y duplicado de licenciasde conducir en todas las categorías, renovación; duplicado de licencias para miembros de laPolicía Nacional, así como emisión y renovación de licenciaspara motociclistas. La dependencia cuenta con personal especializado para los procesos de captura de datos biométricos, toma de fotografías, registro de huellas, impresión y entrega de documentos, garantizando unaatención ágil y eficientea los usuarios. La nueva oficina tendrá capacidad para emitirhasta 200 licencias de conducir por díay beneficiará de manera directa a aproximadamente6,950 propietarios de vehículosde la provincia Independencia, de acuerdo con datos delInforme del Parque Vehicular 2024de la Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII).
