Syrian student tops Germany in Mathematical Kangaroo competition, teaches on TikTok

Berlin, June 16 (SANA)Syrian student Bilal Kreidi, 16, has achieved a remarkable accomplishment after winning first place in Germany in the Mathematical Kangaroo international competition, which involved more than 12,600 schools and 881,000 students.

Following this success, Bilal began producing educational content on TikTok and other platforms, posting simplified math lessons covering five levels ranging from fifth grade to advanced levels. His videos have gained widespread popularity among students.

In an interview with SANA on Tuesday, Bilal said his primary goal is to help students understand mathematics and develop their skills, adding that the strong engagement with his content has motivated him to continue.

His father, Khaled Kreidi, spoke about the family’s journey since arriving in Germany in 2015, emphasizing their commitment to integrating into their new society while maintaining the Arabic language and Syrian curriculum. He added that Bilal comes from a family that values education, noting that all his siblings excel academically, particularly in mathematics.

His mother, Lucy Dabbagh, expressed pride in her son’s achievements, noting that his accomplishment has drawn attention from the German press and the official channel of North Rhine-Westphalia state.

The achievement adds to a series of successes by Syrians expatriates, offering further evidence of Syrian talent and its ability to excel and leave its mark wherever it goes.

The Mathematical Kangaroo competition is one of the world’s largest and most popular mathematics contests, attracting approximately 6 million participants annually from over 100 countries. The competition aims to foster interest in mathematics and develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
