Civil Defense recovers bodies of 4 drowned in Raqqa’s Euphrates River
Raqqa, June 16 (SANA)Civil Defense teams inRaqqaprovince received five reports of drowning incidents while swimming on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of three children and a young man, and the rescue of one adult, the Civil Defense said.
Teams recovered the body of a young man from theEuphrates Rivernear the new bridge on the southern side, and the body of a child near the old bridge on the northern side. Both bodies were transferred to the national hospital in Raqqa for necessary procedures, the Civil Defense said on its Telegram channel.
The residents responded to three other drowning cases, recovering the bodies of two children from the main irrigation canal coming from Tabqa to Abu Wahil in western Raqqa countryside, and rescuing a man who nearly drowned in the Euphrates near the old bridge in Raqqa city.
On May 30, Civil Defense teams recovered the body of a young man who went missing while swimming in the Euphrates after jumping from the old bridge in Raqqa.
TheCivil Defenserenewed its call for residents to refrain from swimming in the Euphrates due to the danger of strong currents, particularly with rising water levels, stressing the need to monitor children and prevent them from approaching riverbanks to ensure their safety and avoid similar incidents.
