SNS: “Helipuertos fortalecen Red Nacional de Trauma y garantizan atención oportuna en emergencias”
Santo Domingo.- The executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio Landrón, highlighted that the Public Health Network continues to consolidate its emergency response capacity through the expansion of the National Heliport Network and the incorporation of a second helicopter for medical transfers of patients in critical condition.
Landrón explained that this strategic infrastructure allows for more efficient coordination between the healthcare centers of the Public Network, facilitating the timely transfer of patients to specialized hospitals and significantly reducing response time in situations where every minute counts.
The head of the SNS highlighted that the National Network of Heliports currently has operational facilities at the Dr. Ney Arias Lora Traumatological Hospital; at the Prof. Juan Bosch Traumatological and Surgical Center in La Vega; in the City of Health; at the Dr. Pedro Emilio de Marchena Provincial Hospital, in Bonao, and at the Dr. Ángel Contreras Provincial Hospital, all inaugurated in the government of President Luis Abinader, thus forming a strategic platform for emergency care and highly complex transfers in the country.
Likewise, he reported that construction work on new landing infrastructure at the Azua Traumatological Hospital is progressing; at the José María Cabral y Báez Regional University Hospital, in Santiago, and at the Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia General and Specialty Hospital, in Higüey, thus expanding network coverage and guaranteeing a more effective response in the different regions of the country.
The official pointed out that the incorporation of a second helicopter optimizes the coordination of aeromedical transfers and reinforces the operational capacity of the system, allowing specialized assistance to be offered more quickly to patients affected by trauma and other highly complex emergencies.
The executive director of the National Health Service highlighted that it is a commitment to continue modernizing the Public Network through infrastructure, equipment and logistical solutions that contribute to saving lives and offering health services with greater efficiency and quality.

Asimismo, informó que avanzan los trabajos de construcción denuevas infraestructuras de aterrizajeen el Hospital Traumatológico de Azua; en el Hospital Regional Universitario José María Cabral y Báez, en Santiago, y en el Hospital General y de Especialidades Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia, en Higüey, ampliando así la cobertura de la red y garantizando unarespuesta más efectivaen las distintas regiones del país.
