La República Dominicana inaugura la LXVI Conferencia de Jefes de las Fuerzas Aéreas Americanas
Punta Cana, La Altagracia.– The Dominican Republic formally opened the LXVI Conference of Chiefs of the American Air Forces (Conchiefer 2026), a meeting that brings together the commanders and representatives of the air forces of the Western Hemisphere to strengthen cooperation, interoperability and mutual support mechanisms between participating nations.
The opening ceremony was led by Pilot Major General Floreal Suárez Martínez (FARD), Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Air Force and President of Conjefamer 2026, and General John D. Lamontagne, Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force and co-host.
Likewise, by Colonel David Bewley, Secretary General of the System of Cooperation between the American Air Forces (Sicofaa); Pilot Brigadier General Manuel García Lithgow (FARD), Deputy Commander General of the Dominican Republic Air Force and Secretary of the Conjefamer 2026, and Colonel Marcelo García, Undersecretary of Sicofaa.
During the opening ceremony, the authorities highlighted the importance of the Conjefamer as the main forum for integration and cooperation between the air forces of the continent, aimed at the exchange of experiences, the strengthening of institutional capacities and the coordination of joint efforts in the face of common challenges.
The conference, which is being held in the country for the first time, is taking place within the framework of the System of Cooperation between the American Air Forces (Sicofaa), an international organization that promotes multinational collaboration between the air forces of the region, especially in humanitarian assistance operations, response to natural disasters, search and rescue, as well as support for populations affected by emergency situations.
