The President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, led this Monday the signing of the indications to the Universal Crib Room bill, an initiative that seeks to expand access to this benefit through a system of gradual and financially sustainable implementation, eliminating a historical barrier that for more than a century has impacted women's access to the labor market. The activity took place in the Las Camelias patio, in La Moneda, and was attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Tomás Rau; the Minister of Education, María Paz Arzola; the Minister of Women and Gender Equality, Judith Marín; the Minister of Social Development, María Jesús Wulf, as well as national and local authorities. The indications, prepared through an inter-ministerial table led by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, propose moving towards a universal coverage system that replaces the limitations derived from the current article 203 of the Labor Code, in force since 1917. The project also contemplates the creation of a Technical Commission on Financing and Sustainability to permanently evaluate the viability of the system, along with inspection mechanisms. and control by the Superintendency of Pensions to safeguard the correct use of resources. With this reform, the Government seeks to strengthen female labor participation, promote a better reconciliation between work and family life and move towards a more equitable system that expands opportunities for thousands of families throughout the country.

The indications, prepared through an inter-ministerial table led by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, propose moving towards a universal coverage system that replaces the limitations derived from the current article 203 of the Labor Code, in force since 1917.
The project also contemplates the creation of a Technical Financing and Sustainability Commission to permanently evaluate the viability of the system, along with inspection and control mechanisms in charge of the Superintendency of Pensions to safeguard the correct use of resources.
With this reform, the Government seeks to strengthen female labor participation, promote a better reconciliation between work and family life and move towards a more equitable system that expands opportunities for thousands of families throughout the country.
