The President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, led this Monday at the Municipal Theater of San Miguel the signing ceremony of the Government's Letter of Commitment for the implementation of the Comprehensive Law of Older Persons and Promotion of Dignified, Active and Healthy Aging, an initiative that seeks to translate into concrete actions the principles established in the new regulations to strengthen the autonomy, participation and protection of the rights of older persons. The new Comprehensive Law of Older Persons establishes a framework for protection and promotion of rights for people aged 60 and over, incorporating an approach to dignified, active and healthy aging, with emphasis on autonomy, participation and non-discrimination. In this regard, the President pointed out that "change is not automatic. If someone promises here that everything will change based on the law, they would not be telling the truth. Because the law contemplates several rights, but behind each right there is a duty. In order to comply with these rights, we have to ask all Chileans to fulfill their duty. Duty is to be up to date, for example, on debts that we may have incurred when we could pay them. Duty is to use medical benefits well. The Minister of Health has said it several times, today we have people who do not use all medical benefits well. Duty is to save where we can and there is also a call to the municipal world, to collaborate with us. Likewise, the legal initiative creates the National Aging Policy, strengthens the role of the State in the coordination of actions aimed at older people, and incorporates special protection mechanisms against them. to social abandonment and modernizes the institutional framework by strengthening SENAMA and new tools to promote greater inclusion and flexibility in the employment of older people. The implementation of this law is part of the Golden Generation Plan promoted by the Government, which seeks to respond to the accelerated aging process that the country is experiencing with policies aimed at guaranteeing care with dignity, expanding opportunities for well-being and participation, improving State care and promoting cities and housing adapted for all ages. With the signing of this Letter of Commitment, the Government reaffirms its will to advance in the implementation of a comprehensive public policy that recognizes older people as full subjects of rights and contributes to building a society that values their experience, promotes their autonomy and guarantees a better quality of life. El Presidente de la República, José Antonio Kast, encabezó este lunes en el Teatro Municipal de San Miguel la ceremonia de firma de la Carta de Compromiso del Gobierno para la implementación de la Ley Integral de Personas Mayores y Promoción del Envejecimiento Digno, Activo y Saludable, iniciativa que busca traducir en acciones concretas los principios establecidos en la nueva normativa para fortalecer la autonomía, la participación y la protección de los derechos de las personas mayores.La nueva Ley Integral de las Personas Mayores establece un marco de protección y promoción de derechos para las personas de 60 años y más, incorporando un enfoque de envejecimiento digno, activo y saludable, con énfasis en la autonomía, la participación y la no discriminación.Al respecto, el Mandatario señaló que "el cambio no es automático. Si alguien promete aquí que todo va a cambiar a partir de la ley, no estaría diciendo las cosas de verdad. Porque la ley contempla varios derechos, pero detrás de cada derecho hay un deber. Para poder cumplir con esos derechos, a todos los chilenos tenemos que pedirles que cumplan con su deber. Deber es estar al día, por ejemplo, en deudas que podemos haber contraído cuando podíamos pagarlas. Deber es usar bien las prestaciones médicas. Lo ha dicho la ministra de Salud varias veces, nosotros hoy día tenemos personas que no usan bien todas las prestaciones médicas.
