Por primera vez en la historia del deporte escolar, el Inefi lanza la histórica “Batalla de las Promociones”
Santo Domingo Este.-The National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi), under the leadership of its executive director, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, announced the launch of the “Battle of the Promotions”, a historic tournament that brings together senior high school students (formerly 4th year of high school) from Santo Domingo Este, marking an unprecedented milestone in the history of Dominican school sports.

Director Alberto Rodríguez was emphatic in highlighting that “in the middle of vacations, Inefi brings sports and entertainment to young people, because we do not abandon students during vacation time.”
This initiative seeks to keep youth active, committed to the values of sport and away from risky behavior during the vacation period, demonstrating that the work of Inefi transcends the school calendar.
Rodríguez underlined the historical dimension of the event: “In the last 50 years there has not been a tournament for promotions of the last year of high school, previously called the fourth year of high school.”
The “Battle of the Promotions” represents the implementation of a tradition that will mark entire generations, imbuing sporting prominence to young people who are on the verge of completing their secondary education.
The executive director explained the strategic reason for choosing this district as a starting point: "Santo Domingo This is the municipality with the highest student population density in the country, with a robust educational infrastructure and a committed sports community and meets the ideal conditions - logistical, sports - to guarantee the success of the first edition of this historic event. From here, Inefi lays the foundations to extend the tournament to the entire national territory."
Tournament Format: All against all until glory
The competition will have the participation of 31 confirmed educational centers from Educational Districts 10-03, 10-04 and 10-06, directly impacting more than 372 students. The tournament will be structured as follows:
▸ 5 groups of 5 teams and 1 group of 6 teams, in a round-robin system.
▸ The 16 best teams in the general ranking will qualify for a direct elimination phase (sudden death).
▸ The four finalists defined in said round will compete in the semifinals.
▸ Match for 3rd and 4th place, and the Grand Final to crown the champion of the first historic edition.
The members of the winning team will receive scholarships at the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA).
While the Most Valuable Player will receive a scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Youth.
