Jordanian ministerial delegation arrives in Damascus for talks with Syrian officials

Damascus, June 14 (SANA)Jordanian Deputy Prime Ministerand Foreign MinisterAyman Safadiarrived in Damascus on Sunday at the head of a high-level ministerial delegation for talks with Syrian officials, as the two neighboring countries seek to expand cooperation across a range of sectors.

The delegation was received atDamascus International Airportby Syrian Foreign MinisterAsaad Hassan al-Shaibanibefore heading to Tishreen Palace for meetings with Syrian ministers.

The visit follows the second session of theSyrian-Jordanian Higher Coordination Councilheld in Amman in April, when the two countries signed nine agreements and memorandums of understanding covering industry, trade, health, higher education, justice, media, tourism and other sectors.

The April meeting was co-chaired by Shaibani and Safadi and brought together 131 officials representing 19 sectors from both countries.

Established in May 2025, the Higher Coordination Council serves as a framework for bilateral cooperation, with meetings scheduled every six months to coordinate policies and oversee the implementation of joint initiatives through specialized committees.
