Syrian, Jordanian officials hold talks in Damascus to expand bilateral cooperation
Damascus, June 14 (SANA)Syrian Foreign MinisterAsaad Hassan al-Shaibaniheld talks in Damascus with a high-level Jordanian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and ExpatriatesAyman Safadi, focusing on strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The Jordanian delegation included Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Al-Saud, Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah, and Chairman of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), Dhaifallah Suleiman Farajat .
Representing the Syrian side were Economy and Industry Minister Nidal al-Shaar, Transport Minister Yarub Badr, Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir, Head of the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports Qutaiba Badawi, and Head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport Omar Hosari.
The talks were held as part of efforts to follow up on the outcomes of the second session of the Syrian-Jordanian Higher Coordination Council, which was held in Amman on April 12.
During the second session, the two countries signed nine agreements and memorandums of understanding covering industry, trade, health, higher education, justice, media, tourism and other sectors.
Established in May 2025, the Higher Coordination Council serves as the main framework for bilateral cooperation, with meetings scheduled every six months to coordinate policies and oversee the implementation of joint initiatives through specialized committees.
