Damascus, June 14 (SANA)The Ministry of Energy signed an agreement on Sunday for the supply and installation of five million smart water meters in cooperation with Saudi Meters Company (SMC) on the sidelines of the 24thBuildexInternational Construction Exhibition at the Damascus Fairgrounds.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Minister of EnergyMohammad al-Bashirand forms part of efforts to modernize public services and enhance the efficiency of water management systems in Syria.

Speaking on the occasion, al-Bashir said the project represents a clear step toward digital transformation in public services through the establishment of an accurate database that will help improve planning, optimize operations and guide maintenance efforts.

The minister added that the project will also contribute to enhancing fairness among subscribers and positively reflect on the quality of services provided to citizens.

The initiative is expected to support the modernization of water infrastructure and strengthen the use of digital technologies in the management and delivery of public utilities.
