Confirmed Ebola cases in DR Congo rise to 710 amid outbreak response

Kinshasa, June 14 (SANA)The number of confirmedEbola casesin the Democratic Republic of theCongohas risen to approximately 710 over the past 24 hours, according to figures released by the country’s health authorities.

The Congolese Ministry of Health said in a post on the X platform on Saturday that the confirmed cases include 149 deaths linked to the outbreak.

The Congolese government said around 300 people are currently being treated in hospital isolation wards, noting that the spread of the virus remains contained following examinations conducted in three northeastern provinces.

The development comes as authorities continue surveillance and response measures aimed at preventing further transmission of the disease.

Earlier, theWorld Health Organizationsaid efforts to trace contacts of people infected with Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo had achieved significant progress. However, the organization noted that those efforts remain below the level required to fully contain the outbreak.
