Vessel hit by unidentified projectile off Oman coast
London, June 13 (SANA)The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced on Saturday that a vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile on the port side of its bow off the coast of the Sultanate of Oman.
According to Reuters, the agency said the incident occurred six nautical miles east of Oman’s coast, noting that all crew members were safe and no environmental damage was reported.
The agency added that the vessel continued its voyage toward its next scheduled port without reporting any forced stoppage or operational damage.
No details have yet been disclosed regarding the vessel’s identity, nationality, or cargo, and no party has claimed responsibility for the incident.
The incident comes amid escalating tensions in theArabian Seaand the Gulf of Oman since the outbreak of war in the Middle East on February 28.
Earlier on Thursday, the agency reported a fire in the engine room of an oil tanker near theStrait of Hormuzoff Oman’s coast, without identifying the cause.
