Desempleo alcanza nivel más bajo de los últimos 13 años
UNEMPLOYMENT REACHES LOWEST LEVEL IN THE LAST 13 YEARS● Unemployment rate reached 7.7%, lowest percentage since 2010.● The trend continues towards the decrease in informal employment and the growth of formal employment.● Improvement in the quality of employment is reflected in the behavior of the indicators of underemployment, employment insurance and health insurance affiliation. The country's unemployment rate fell to its lowest level in the last 13 years according to the Continuous Employment Survey (ECE) of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), corresponding to the August-September-October 2023 quarter. The open unemployment rate (TDA) was 7.7%, presenting a decrease of 3.8 percentage points (pp) compared to the same quarter of the previous year. This represents a decrease of 111,991 unemployed people. The data also show a decrease in informal employment by 5.3 pp, equivalent to some 167,462 fewer people in the informal sector. With respect to underemployment, the trend towards its reduction continues. This indicator stood at 4.5%, with a year-on-year reduction of 5.6 pp, which is equivalent to 129,712 fewer underemployed people in one year. In addition, there is an increase in the number of workers with formal employment of 34,716 people. It should be noted that some indicators show an improvement in the quality of employment.
