Chairman of China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) Mr. BAI YINZHAN and other representatives joined a meeting at the President's Office this morning (13). I am happy to announce that there is a strong confidence to invest in Sri Lanka. I mentioned here that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is an essential factor for the country's economic growth, and that the government has reached a policy stability based on the agreements made with the International Monetary Fund, and based on that stability, it is working in a direction favorable to investors. Stating that the government always provides the highest possible support for investments that are beneficial to the country, especially the government's desire to turn the port city region into a developed economic zone, I expressed my gratitude by appreciating the unique support provided by the China Harbor Engineering Company in those activities and in providing relief to the people affected by the last Cyclone Ditwa. Today (13) I attended the meeting with the delegation including Chairman of China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) BAI YINZHAN at the President's Office. It is gratifying to report here that there is now a strong confidence to invest in Sri Lanka. I mentioned here that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is an essential factor for the country's economic development, and that the government has achieved principled stability based on the agreements reached with the International Monetary Fund, and based on that stability, it is acting in a positive direction for investors. I mentioned that the government will continue to provide the possible cooperation for investments that are beneficial to the country, especially the expectation of the government is to make the Colombo port city a developed economic zone, and I also appreciated the excellent support provided by the China Harbor Company in providing relief to the people affected by the last Cyclone Titwa during those activities and expressed my gratitude for it. Met this morning (13) at the Presidential Secretariat with Mr. Bai Yinzhan, Chairman of China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) and a delegation representing the company. I was pleased to note the confidence expressed by the company in investing in Sri Lanka and its positive assessment of the country's investment climate. During the discussion, it was emphasized that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is a vital driver of Sri Lanka's economic growth. Also noted that the Government has achieved a degree of political stability through the agreements reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and is working to create an increasingly investor-friendly environment based on that stability. Reaffirmed the Government's commitment to providing the highest possible level of support to investments that contribute positively to the country's development and prosperity. Further stated that transforming the Port City Colombo area into a modern and dynamic economic zone remains a key objective of the Government. Also expressed my appreciation for the valuable support extended by China Harbor Engineering Company, both in advancing key development initiatives and in assisting communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah through its relief efforts.
