Educational infrastructure is one of the main priorities of this

Government. Unfortunately, over many years, there has been no investment

adequately in its maintenance, which has caused a notable deterioration

because preventive maintenance has not been common.

Today citizens have the possibility of reviewing the progress of development projects.

Between 2022 and 2023, measures were implemented to streamline processes and

complete the construction and remodeling of 40 educational centers. Of these, six

projects were started during the current administration and completed in

shorter deadlines thanks to improvements in the management model, simplification of

processes and standardization of work methods.

During the year 2023, 23 construction projects began with funds from the

MEP. Furthermore, in the first months of the current school year, they have begun

works in 4 other educational centers. To these, there will be added 40 projects that already

They have established designs and will begin construction this year.

The funds available, in the State Single Fund, by the Boards of Education and

Administrations have been reactivated for constructions and repairs that were

necessary for a long time. In July 2023 the funds were authorized

to benefit 432 educational centers. Additionally, this month they are releasing

additional funds for another 322 educational centers, with a total amount of

¢2,040 million. And we are organizing the release of funds so that 300

additional centers may have authorization to use resources before

end of the year. That is why the Minister of Education, Anna Katharina Müller Castro, makes

a call to the Boards to execute these funds as soon as possible.

Benefiting 1,054 educational centers with other minors that should remain

ready next year at the latest and, hopefully, sooner. Today the MEP sees the infrastructure in a comprehensive manner; we deliver the new ones

works with furniture, technological equipment, internet connection, equipment

dining room, according to needs.

Despite the limitations, we managed to increase the budget allocated to

infrastructure. In 2023 we experience 130% growth, and in the

2024, this increase rose to 25%.

For the first time since the beginning of the year, we have all the money

destined for the works that will be carried out in 2024, which improves

significantly the planning and programming of the planned work.

The DIE managed to identify and seek solutions to the bottlenecks that were holding back

the processes. We have already removed 12 of them to move the resources that

They had not been executed for many years.

The MEP reactivated and completed 7 works built under the figure of the Trust

MEP-BID-Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, which were paralyzed due to lack of

We work efficiently on infrastructure, because we know

that having appropriate facilities has a direct impact on quality

of education. There is still much to do but we have made progress with achievements
