ICE E INDER FIRMAN ACUERDO MARCO PARA LLEVAR ELECTRICIDAD E INTERNET A MÁS TERRITORIOS RURALES

The executive presidents of the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) and the Rural Development Institute (Inder) signed a framework agreement that will allow the development of new electrification and connectivity projects in rural territories that currently do not have these essential services.
The document was signed by the leaders of both institutions, Marco Acuña, from ICE, and Osvaldo Artavia, from Inder. This is a 5-year agreement that can be extended for three more periods; that is, up to 15 years in total.
The initiative seeks to unite efforts, resources and scientific and technological knowledge to promote investment projects in electrical and telecommunications infrastructure, which will promote the economic and social development of the populations of these places.
The coordinated work between the entities has borne important fruits. The electrification project was recently delivered at Finca Dú Túj, and another is in process in the Finca Curá sector, both in the Rey Curré Indigenous Territory, and with a joint investment of ₡385 million.
In addition, starting this year, other electrification works are being worked on jointly in places such as Medio Queso, Los Chiles; as well as in the Colorado Sardines, Barras del Colorado sector, among many others that are in the project portfolio.
In total, between 2022 and 2023, both institutions developed a total of 8 electrification projects with an investment of ₡1,270 million.

Los presidentes ejecutivos del Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) y del Instituto de Desarrollo Rural (Inder) firmaron un convenio marco que permitirá el desarrollo de nuevos proyectos de electrificación y conectividad en los territorios rurales que actualmente no cuentan con esos servicios esenciales. El documento fue firmado por los jerarcas de ambas instituciones, Marco Acuña, del ICE, y Osvaldo Artavia, del Inder. Se trata de un convenio a 5 años plazo prorrogables por tres periodos más; es decir, hasta 15 años en total. La iniciativa procura la unión de esfuerzos, recursos y conocimientos científicos y tecnológicos para la promoción de proyectos de inversión en infraestructura eléctrica y en telecomunicaciones, lo que fomentará el desarrollo económico y social a las poblaciones de estos lugares. El trabajo articulado entre las entidades ha dado frutos importantes. Recientemente se entregó el proyecto de electrificación en la Finca Dú Túj, y otro más se encuentra en proceso en el sector de Finca Curá, ambos en el Territorio Indígena de Rey Curré, y con una inversión conjunta ₡385 millones. Además, a partir de este año, conjuntamente se trabaja otras obras de electrificación en lugares como Medio Queso, Los Chiles; así como en el sector de Sardinas de Colorado, Barras del Colorado, entre muchos otros que se encuentran en la cartera de proyectos.
