Two killed, 23 injured in traffic accidents and fires across Syria
Damascus, June 10 (SANA)Two women were killed and 23 people injured in traffic accidents and fires across Syria, emergency authorities said on Wednesday.
The fatalities occurred in a traffic accident before dawn on the Athriya road in western Raqqa province, where a passenger bus collided with a combine harvester transporter, according to theRaqqaDirectorate ofEmergency and Disaster Management.
The crash killed two women and injured four others, including two children. Syrian Civil Defense teams responded to the scene, provided emergency assistance and transported the injured to al-Tabqa National Hospital.
Separately,Syrian Civil Defenseteams responded to 17traffic accidentsnationwide on Tuesday, leaving 17 people injured. The agency said victims received first aid before being transferred to hospitals for treatment.
Authorities urged motorists to reduce speed, ensure vehicles are in good mechanical condition and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
Civil Defense teams also responded to 226 fires across the country, including 63 fires in agricultural fields and crops and 163 fires involving homes, commercial premises, vegetation, trees, waste and electrical infrastructure.
Two civilians were injured in the fires and taken to hospital after receiving medical assistance, while the remaining incidents resulted in material damage only.
The agency renewed calls for the public to avoid lighting fires in forests and agricultural areas and to take precautions aimed at reducing wildfire risks during the summer season.
